Ahhh.. the independents' row at the comicbook convention. This is actually where I normally spend most of my time. It's a place for me to find comics and art that I won't be able to find elsewhere. This year I even found some gems there. At some point I would love to put up full reviews, but until then... here are some brief descriptions and links:
The Dreamer: A very very cool comic, but it is a romance, not a superhero comic, so beware if that's not your thing. I would still say check it out, but that's your call. The art is very clean and very good, the story has grabbed me, and the dialog is normally spot on with average speech. I've read issues 1 to 3, this is a comic I asked Jen to pick up issues 2 and 3 of when she went back to the convention the next day.
Flipside: If you want a comic with a hot superheroine jester, then this is the comic for you. Thre are a lot of sexual innuendos. It's pretty funny, and the start of what appears to be a really go story arc. I've only read book 1, but I'll probably pick up 2 and 3.
Paradign Shift: If you want a detective story, this one is pretty good, the text bubbles are sometimes hard to find, and the large story arc is a bit predictible, but it's very entertaining, I've read books 1 and 2 so far.
Oddly Normal: If you're looking for a very clean, very stylized comic for kids and adults, then this is a cool comic to check out. The art is very fun in a cartoony style with vibrant colors. This comic deals with normal issues of fitting in, but it does it in an enjoyable way, well... at least I enjoyed it. I've ready book 1 so far.
